This bust on Praça Amílcar Cabral, facing the Camões monument, honours Bernardo de Sá Nogueira de Figueiredo, Marquis of Sá da Bandeira, the 19th-century Portuguese prime minister and abolitionist who granted the town the name Mindelo.
