Mindelo sees the year out on the waterfront: thousands gather along the Avenida Marginal for the midnight fireworks over the bay (1 January, 00:00). The câmara usually programmes free open-air concert nights in the days before (five nights, 27–31 December, in the 2025/26 edition); the 2026/27 programme is announced in December.
